Effects of r-Ray Irradiation on Aspergillus flavus and the Production of Aflatoxin

Abstract
|
|
|
To study of the effect of r-ray irradiation on aflatoxin and aspergillus flavus, aflatoxins (B1 and GI mixture in chloroform) and aspergillus flarus (ATCC 15517) strain were treated by with Go source (70 ci) gamma ray irradiator, which dosages were given to 0. 1, 0. 5, 1. 0 and 5. 0 M rad.
The results were as follows:
1) Aflatoxins were not affected by any dose of gamma ray irradiation.
2) Aspergillus flavus irradiated with more than 0. 5 M rad was relatively inhibited to grow on culture media.
3) Aspergillus flavus irradiated with 1.05.0 R-1 rad r-ray were not produced aflatoxin during 20 to 60 days culture in chemically defined medium.
